1. What Is Articulation?
- A process designed to award college credit to qualifying high school students
- A mutual agreement between high school teachers and college instructors
- Based on equivalent common competencies and skills in courses

2. How Does It Work?
- Delaware Tech offers advance academic credits to qualified students who choose
to continue their education in a targeted career pathway
- A career pathway is a course of study that prepares students for immediate employment in a cluster of related occupations and/or seamless entry into postsecondary education
- In a program to program articulation, competencies mastered in a collection of
high school classes are equated to a college class

3. What Is The Procedure For A High School Student To Earn Articulated
College Credit?
- The student registers for Tech Prep courses through a high school guidance
counselor or vocational teacher.
- The student completes a Tech Prep/School-to-Work high school career pathway.
- The student receives a grade of 85% or better in articulated courses.
- The school notifies Tech Prep Delaware of the student’s grades.
- Tech Prep Delaware sends the qualified student an award letter listing the credits
for which the student is eligible.
- The student enters Delaware Tech within a year of completing high school and
meets all requirements including acceptance into a technology program.
(The student presents the award letter to a Delaware Tech counselor during the application process.)
- The student’s earned Tech Prep credits are entered on the student’s official
Delaware Tech transcript after the student successfully completes 15 credits in
the technology program

4. What Is The Maximum Number Of Articulated Credits Awarded By Delaware Tech?
- Maximum number of technology credits = 10
- Maximum number of related academic credits = 6
* If students have more than the maximum number, they may choose which high school advance credits they wish to apply for DTCC advance credits

5. Can Articulated Credits Be Transferred To A Four-Year Institution?
Transfer of the earned articulated credits to a four-year institution is subject to the
policy of the college or university.

- Today, 75% of jobs demand skilled workers who have earned more than a high
- school diploma but less than a Bachelor’s Degree.
- In addition to employability skills, all students need a strong academic background
to compete in the workforce
